The FIT programme is intended to enable German higher education institutions to accompany international students along their entire qualification path with customised offers in order to lead them to success in their studies and subsequently to a professional career in Germany.

    • Within the framework of the FIT programme, holistic higher education projects are funded that focus on the entire student life cycle (qualification path) of international students - from study preparation and access to higher education, to support during studies and ensuring study success, to the transition to the labour market - and support them with tailor-made measures. In addition, the programme promotes the expansion of career-related support and counselling structures - so-called career services - for international students as well as the establishment of cooperative networks between universities and companies from the business sector as well as other actors relevant to the labour market. The aim is to establish clear transition structures for international graduates of German universities into the German labour market.

The programme aims to contribute to the following objectives:

      1. To facilitate access for international prospective students (with and without direct HZB) to study at a German higher education institution.
      2. To increase the academic success of international students intending to graduate from German higher education institutions.
      3. To increase the employability of international students and international graduates for the German labour market.
      4. Promote the establishment of cooperative networks and transition structures between higher education institutions and the business community.
