Further information provided by the department

Special features regarding teaching

The courses benefit from a particularly good student-teacher ratio (1:15). Teaching is also highly interactive, interdisciplinary and project-oriented. The development of students’ own project ideas and project management skills takes place in three events, which incorporate both internal and external experts. A work placement is also possible. Additional options in terms of content allow students to develop their own profile. Professional skills are also taught systematically.

Special features regarding the international orientation

Constructor University is an English-speaking university and has a very high proportion of international students (>80%). In addition, the university aims to rapidly double its student numbers through a systematic expansion of online teaching. Infrastructure investments are currently being made for this purpose. In the coming winter semester, 6 new online programmes will be offered. Current programmes will also receive online elements (e.g. the minor subject "Data Science") and often take place in hybrid mode. Conferences and summer schools are held in hybrid mode.

Special features regarding the equipment

The faculty has various digital platforms on which learning and research materials can be shared across the university as well as globally. There is access to the standard databases maintained by the IRC. The school has a behavioural science lab and a data centre (CLAMV).

Special features regarding research activities

The School of Business, Decision and Social Sciences conducts research in the field of social data science, international business administration, decision research, creativity and digital transformation of logistics and is involved in various research projects that are financed by various institutions (e.g. German Research Foundation (DFG), Federal Ministry of Education and Research, VW Foundation, etc.). In addition, there are close collaborations with the School of Computer Science and Engineering and the School of Science, for example in the field of cybersecurity, ecological modelling, and university research collaborations.

Support for founders

The university hosts regular start-up events and has a team that takes care of business spin-offs. The university's wider ecosystem also provides access to private venture capital firms.

Other special features

The university strives towards sustainable management of its campus and, in its Diversity Plan, has committed to better support women.
