Special features regarding teaching

The Sports Institute of the HU is very well networked within Europe and internationally. This applies both to the area of research (numerous cooperations offer students the opportunity to work on internships, student assistantships or theses) and to the area of teaching and learning. Numerous bilateral agreements with European partner institutes form - within the framework of the Erasmus exchange - the basis for study stays in (European) foreign countries. English-language or bilingual courses are becoming increasingly established in teaching.

Exchange universities for stay abroads

Université de Nice, Frankreich; National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Griechenland; University of Greenwich, UK; Norwegian School of Sport Science, Norwegen; Akademia Wychowania Fizycznego Józefa Pilsudskiego w Warszawie, Polen; Universidade de Lisboa, Portugal; Bern University of Applied Science, Schweiz; Universidad de Granada, Spanien; Charles University in Prague, Tschechische Republik; Ege University School of Sports and physical Education, Türkei

Special features regarding the equipment

The institute has its own WiFi and PC pool available. In the library, sports science has its own faculty. The large and modern laboratory area, the sports research hall and the sports outpatient clinic offer excellent opportunities for movement analyses and performance diagnostics in research and teaching.

Sport facilities

The institute cooperates with the Olympiastützpunkt Berlin. In addition, there is a counselling and coordination office that helps top athletes to reconcile top sport and studies. The university outpatient clinic (directly at the institute) also provides uncomplicated medical care.

Special features regarding research activities

Current research projects always offer the possibility of collaboration through student assistantships, internships or theses. The wide range of active research across the various departments provides students with opportunities to gain insight into both the social science and natural science research areas of sports science. New findings are passed on to the students directly within the teaching.

Support for founders

The Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin's Start-Up Service supports students, scientists and alumni of the HU in implementing their start-up ideas. As a central contact point for people interested in starting a business at the university, the development of business ideas is supported there and possibilities for their implementation are shown. Among other things, assistance is provided in the preparation of the business model and business plan, in finding co-founders and in applying for and obtaining funding.

Other special features

The University Sports Department of the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin offers a very wide range of courses. Students can also use the university sports facilities of the other Berlin universities. The Institute of Sport works closely with the Berlin Institute for Integration and Migration Research, the Julius Wolff Institute of the Charité Berlin and the Berlin Olympic Training Centre, among others.
