Special features regarding teaching

Our business administration courses combine a general and specific compulsory programme with a large number of individual elective options. Specific contents – international and SMEs – can be explored more thoroughly on the basis of sound business methods. The further the study progresses, the more options students have to choose their own specialisations. At the same time, number of practice projects increases through the course of the studies. This ensures the acquisition of skills in a timely and practical manner as well as the establishment of contacts to companies.

Special features regarding the international orientation

Our faculty has many international contacts at organisational and personnel levels. All study programmes benefit particularly from the experience with the Bachelor´s degree course in International Business Administration and Master's in International Marketing & Sales thanks to their emphasis on English-language courses that attract many international students, especially from many of the partner universities. These partnerships thrive on constant exchange, especially in the form of visits and guest stays. Joint projects with international companies are also carried out.

Exchange universities for stay abroads

Universidade do Estado de Santa Catarina, Florianópolis, Brasilien; East Stroudsburg University,Pennsylvania, USA; ESC Clermont Graduate School of Management, Frankreich; California State University, Fullerton, USA; Edutus Főiskola, Tatabánya, Ungarn; South-Eastern Finnland University of Applied Sciences (XAMK), Finnland; Universitat Politècnica de València, Spanien; Osaka University of Economics and Law, Japan; Cork Institute of Technology, Irland; Central University of Technology, Free State, Bloemfontein, Südafrika.

Special features regarding the equipment

The Faculty of Business and Economics offers a variety of courses with different requirements. This creates a wide range of possibilities in terms of technical equipment and subject-specific databases. When it comes to technical equipment, we also benefit from the possibilities offered by the technical faculties, particularly Computer Science and Mechanical Engineering. Our technical equipment meets modern requirements and our databases (e.g. beck-online) are up-to-date, well-kept and comprehensive. Open learning and project rooms complement modern equipped PC rooms.

Special features regarding research activities

The faculty has extensive research activities in business administration. The Aalen Management Institute (AAUF) is worthy of special mention. It conducts research on linking corporate governance and corporate success in a corporate governance system and designing a practical model from this. Due to the seamless connection of the institute to Aalen University and as part of its integration into the strategic structure and development plan of Aalen University, relevant publications are promoted from within everyday university life.

Support for founders

To promote an entrepreneurial culture, Aalen University has established its own programme (Start-up Campus). In the faculty, all students benefit from the experience of the SME study area in the field of business start-ups. In practical terms, we promote start-ups together with the technical departments of the university and have developed the joint Master's in Business Development especially for entrepreneurial students. Together with our innovation centre and the AAcelerator of our region, we offer student start-ups space, equipment and advice for a successful start.

Other special features

We conduct our own selection procedures for our courses and, as a faculty, deliberately emphasize the selection of applicants. Our focus is on (future) students. This is why we invest in student support and make time for students. This is borne out by a large number of tutorials, exercises and small group sizes. In addition, the faculty offers a variety of projects in the field of sustainability and various programmes on equality (e.g. Frauen gründen (women starting businesses), KarMen (career and mentoring for female students)).
