Special features regarding teaching

The central profile element "Internationality" is reflected clearly in the teaching. This is shown by content with international relevance, the extensive range of business languages, the teaching of cross-cultural competence, as well as the obligatory or optional element of the period of study abroad at one of more than 150 partner universities. The widely differentiated study concept promotes specialisation as early as the application stage (functional, sectoral, and regional specialisation). The high practical orientation is lived out through lecture series or case studies.

Special features regarding the international orientation

Several modules are taught in English and/or have content with a particularly international orientation. Guest students from foreign partner universities take part in the specialist modules taught in English and work out case solutions with the German students. Thanks to compulsory or optional stays abroad, for which students are generally prepared by intercultural coaches as part of the curriculum, graduates will have a world of opportunities open to them. The stay abroad includes an academic and practice semester abroad.

Special features regarding the equipment

The students can use approximately 100 computers, including extensive peripherals, in 5 PC rooms for teaching and self-study. All workstations are connected to the campus network, and have Internet access. In addition, the campus features a campus-wide wireless LAN. All course rooms have permanently installed projectors. There are extensive electronic library resources (over 6,000 e-books/journals) available. A VPN client enables access from the Internet to the intranet and the library's restricted resources.

Support for founders

BRIDGE, the Bremen University initiative to promote entrepreneurial thinking, start-ups and entrepreneurship, provides a course programme focused on entrepreneurship. Interested parties are offered over 20 sessions each semester to develop and/or improve their start-up skills. The BRUT programme of the State of Bremen – assistance for new start-ups by university graduates and young professionals – supports students shortly before the completion of their studies, alumni, doctoral graduates, academics with habilitation, research assistants and young professionals.

Other special features

The direction of the entire study programme is based on the concept and years of experience that prove that a range of different specialist courses structures can achieve an extraordinarily high level of identification amongst students and teachers with "their" course of study. This is demonstrated by the very stable figures for applicants, students and graduates over many years.
